Patient has Advanced Periodontal disease with a frenum pull on the lower anterior teeth. Periodontal charting is done under a surgical microscope and recoded by means of a surgical microscope a Global G6 and a beam splitter with a Sony Camera filming. First pass of LANAP is done and a Frenectomy. This patient had been told by her dentist and periodontist to remove all her teeth. She looked online and found that hopeless teeth can be saved with an FDA cleared laser procedure called LANAP. LANAP uses the periolase laser it is an ND:Yag laser with a wavelength of 1064 nm. The laser was used at an average power of 4.6 watts with a pulse duration of 350 microseconds. The frenectomy was done with the periolase “diode” setting. Even though the periolase is not a diode the hertz can be increased to 100 Hz therefore creating a hot glass effect similar to a diode.

A frenectomy (also known as a frenulectomy, frenulotomy or frenotomy) is the removal of a frenulum, a small fold of tissue that prevents an organ in the body from moving too far. It can refer to frenula in several places on the human body. It is related to frenuloplasty, a surgical alteration in a frenulum. Done mostly for orthodontic purposes, a frenectomy is either performed inside the middle of upper lip, which is called labial frenectomy, or under the tongue, called lingual frenectomy. Frenectomy is a very common dental procedure in the dental world and is performed both on children and adults.
